Landscape Designer | Sales

We are in search of a creative and passionate Landscape Designer to join our Design/Sales staff. At Groundscapes, we design and build beautiful outdoor living spaces and are always in search of new professionals to join our ever-growing team. As a Landscape Designer with us, you will be designing fully-custom outdoor spaces complete with swimming pools & spas, outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, and so much more.

You will be able to improve your design skills while designing a variety of different projects that are large vs small, modern vs rustic, and simple vs highly detailed. You will be using leading industry software to communicate and estimate landscape design concepts for your clients. After a client decides to go forward with a landscape concept, your projects will then be constructed by experienced landscape construction professionals that will make you and your client's vision come to life.

This is a salary position with the opportunity for UNLIMITED sales commissions.

Job Title:Landscape Designer

Department:Landscape Design / Sales

Position Summary: Lead landscape designs and sales for residential projects, from conceptual planning to start of construction. Develop personal relationships with residential clients and keep an open line of communication with the client throughout the construction process. Perform various professional, administrative, and technical work in the design, development, and construction of residential landscaping, outdoor living spaces, pools/spas, and other projects as required.

Supervision Exercised and Received:Position works under the supervision of the Lead Landscape Designer.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Oversees planning and design efforts associated with residential landscape projects. Provides design direction and technical guidance to both the client and colleagues. Serves as a point of communication with industry professionals, including construction contractors, suppliers, and more.

  • Responsible for estimating construction of Landscapes, Outdoor Living Spaces, and Pools/Spas.

  • Must be able to build personal relationships with clients and communicate with the client throughout the construction of the project.

Estimating / Sales

  • Responsible for estimating construction of Landscapes, Outdoor Living Spaces, and Pools/Spas accurately.

  • Must be able to build personal relationships with clients and communicate with the client throughout the construction of the project.

  • Must be able to accomplish sales and performances goals

Core Attributes: We are seeking an individual that displays the following key professional attributes:

  • Knowledge of site construction materials, processes, techniques and all technical aspects of developing residential landscaping projects.

  • Ability to identify new design & technology trends in the field of landscape design and subsequently implement trends into the residential projects.

  • Ability to be self-motivated and ready to work independently without direct oversight.

  • Ability to make sound recommendations to supervisors in response to situations when necessary.

  • Skill in managing complex and technical projects to ensure they are completed in a timely manner, withing the clients budget, and meet the overall objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Design or Landscape Architecture and/or 5+ years of professional Landscape Design/Estimating experience

Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a Residential Landscape Designer or Landscape Architect in project management, site construction, and estimating.

Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Email.

Other Technical Knowledge: Not required, but candidates that are experienced in 3D modeling and Design are encouraged to apply (Sketchup, Revit, Structure Studios).

NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge may be substituted for the requirements above.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills

  • The ability to stay self motivated and creative while juggling multiple projects and responsibilities

  • Field experience with site construction processes, when it comes to landscaping, outdoor living spaces, and pools/spas.

  • Digital Landscape Design Experience (CAD, Sketchup, etc)

Position Type and Work Hours:Full-Time,hours may very due to work load and seasonality of our industry

Evenings/Weekends:Frequently will be required depending on client needs and availability - The Landscape Designer will schedule their own appointments.
